Keep A Poem In Your Pocket

Beatrice De Regniers

Keep a poem in your pocket

And a picture in your head

And you'll never feel lonely

At night when you're in bed.

The little poem will sing to you

The little poem will bring to you

A doxen dreams to dance to you

At night when you're in bed.

Keep a  picture in your pocket

And a poem  in your head

And you'll never feel lonely

At night when you're in bed.

A poem about feelings

Name....................................................................................

In the first space put the name of an animal. Then try and think what would make the animal have that feeling. What would make a dog happy?
The first line might be -
I'm as happy as a dog with a bone. But that would be a bit boring.
What would make a lizard happy? I'm as happy as a lizard with a hot rock to sit upon. Now you try :-

I'm as happy as a_______________with a________________

I'm as happy as a _______________in a __________________

I'm as lonely as a _______________in a __________________

I'm as sad as a _________________without its _____________

I'm as unhappy as a ______________that's lost its ___________

I'm as happy as a __________________________

I'm as sad as a ____________________________

I'm as lonely as a___________________________

Here are some animals to choose from :-

monkey snake lion cat elephant giraffe eagle leopard zebra donkey tiger duck grasshopper wasp ostrich camel tortoise pig butterfly cobra
horse fish whale squirrel dinosaur duck dragon chimpanzee donkey dog wolf cat koala bear hippo rhino sparrow turkey rat mouse squirrel antelope lizard dolphin slug snail frog cheetah shark

Now write it out as a poem.

Your Name

by Mrs. Alphabet

Shout your name very loud

Write  your  name inside a cloud!

Sing your name like a bird

Whisper your name so it's barely heard.

Spell your name say each letter

Cheer your name for us altogether.

Make an action while your spell for me

Like clap or jump and we'll all copy.

Pull your name out so we hear each sound

We'll hunt for the letters to be found.

Now we know who you are

You are our shining star!

It's Great to be Me!

Harry T. Hahn

ME! ME! ME! I am glad to be me!

I can read a book, sing a song, ride a bike,

-and  climb a tree.

But if I were not me, what in the world could I be?

I could be a dog, or croak like a frog.

I could be a cat, asleep on a mat.

I could be a cow and learn how to bow.

I could be a bear, without any hair.

I could be a fox and wear funny socks.

I could be a sheep, with wool two feet deep.

I could be a horse of course.

You can see why I'm glad to be me,

Happy old, snappy old, funny old me!

ME!

unknown

Here I am.

Look at me!

These are the things you'll see.

A reader.

A writer.

A laugher.

A leader.

A winker.

A blinker.

A lemonade drinker.

A thinker is smart as a thinker can be.

A thinker who thinks it's fun being ME!

I'm Wonderful!

I'm wonderful! I'm fabulous!
I'm better than the best!
With dashing looks and lightning brains,
I feel I'm truly blessed!
No one else is quicker with
their muscles or their mind.
Go search around the world--
a sharper kid you'll never find.
I know it's not polite to brag,
I know it sounds conceited...

Since no one else will tell me,
I decided that I need it.
